Sue Stephenson Interim Chair, Recruitment Committee, (905) 453-9178

Recruitment Committee

This committee communicates with people as they approach retirement and runs Retirement Planning Workshops each year.

It also organizes a New Retiree Celebration.

This years' Celebration will be held on October 18 and we need volunteers to help plan and organize it.

In addition, we prepare mailings that go to everyone who retires from the Peel District School Board and send packages to the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board for distribution.

There is a variety of tasks that need to be done.

Could you help in any way?

Sue Stephenson has temporarily returned to her role as Recruitment Chair and would be glad to teach someone the ropes to take over as Chair of this committee or become a member of it!

Another Outstanding Retirement Planning Workshop

On April 10, 2010, we held another successful one-day seminar to assist over 100 teachers, principals and support staff with their transition to retirement, after long careers in education in the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board.

Retirement

Most people look forward to retirement, but it often comes along with mixed feelings attached to it, such as leaving a familiar job and positive relationships and moving to unknown territory.

This seminar aimed to ease this transition and answer questions the participants brought.

2. (Middle) Asking A Question

3. (Left) Points To Ponder

Workshop

The seminar, held at BraeBen Golf Course, featured speakers and written information on pension awareness from Bob Murphy, financial planning from Chris Dodd, health benefits and insurance from Deb Telfer (Johnson Inc.) and personal considerations from Sue Stephenson, Chair of the Recruitment Committee.

Satisfaction

One participant, Lynn Haniuk, sent us this comment after the seminar: “Thank you for a wonderfully informative workshop. Everything was organized and ran smoothly; speakers were interesting and knowledgeable; and snacks/beverages/lunch were good. Cudos to everyone who presented.”

Thanks

Thanks to Lorraine Bayliss and Patricia Kenyon on the Recruitment Committee for helping with registration, Larry Holseth for the photos and Linda Kenny, our President, for her support.

The Future

Participants loved the BraeBen location and we hope to use it more in the future.
